Andreas Strickert of Brunne, a village northwest of Berlin, (1635-1706) was ancestor of a large number of Strickerts who immigrated to Texas. Albert Harstack of Texas has compiled a data base from church records in Brunne with 5 individuals named Strickert and 65 individuals with the name Striekert. The variation in spelling likely occurred because of the way different pastors heard the name pronounced.
Friedrich Robert Striekert immigrated from Vehlefanz, Germany and settled in Brenham, Texas. He immigrated sometime before 1882 when he married and had eleven children in Brenham.
