The Rev. Arthur H. Strickert

Funeral service for the Rev. Arthur H. Strickert of Dearborn, Michigan, formerly of the Jackson area, was held Monday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dearborn, where he served as pastor fro 23 years. The Rev. Richard Schlecht, president of the Michigan District, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, officiated, and burial was in the Glen Eden Lutheran Cemetery near Dearborn.

The Rev. Strickert, 58 years old, died Aug. 9, in a hospital there [suffering from Leukemia] He was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Lincoln, Kansas, to the Rev. and Mrs. H. J. Strickert. [He was baptized by his father on Nov. 28, 1920]. His family moved near Tilsit, Jackson Route 2 in 1926 where his father was pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1934, receiving his elementary education in the church’s parochial school.



Mr. Strickert attended high school and junior college at St. Paul’s College in Concordia, Missouri. He served as vicar at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood, graduating from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in January, 1945. On Feb. 18, 1945, he was ordained by his father [with his brother Walter preaching the sermon].

Pastorates he served were Concordia Lutheran Church, Jackson, Tennessee [1945-1948]; St. Paul Lutheran Church , Hillsdale, Michigan [Dec. 1948- Oct. 1956]; and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dearborn since 1956.
 

On Aug. 2, 1945, he was married to Miss Helen Krenzke.



Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Miss Ruth Strickert, Mrs. Karen Hoerauf, and Mrs. Gloria Kaczor, all of Michigan; his mother, Mrs. Minna Strickert, Jackson, Mo.; five brothers , the Rev. Walter Strickert, St. Louis, the Rev. Paul Strickert, Rockwall, Texas, Arnold Strickert, Jackson, Missouri, Roland Strickert, Nashville, Tennessee, and the Rev. Robert Strickert, Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Mrs. Betty Ruehrdanz, Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father.
