The Strickert family tradition referred to their German family home as Mecklenberg. Actually Weggun is located in Brandenburg just east of the Mecklenburg border. The following two documents (taken from LDS microfilm of Church records) are from Ballin as town just west of the Mecklenburg border. It is possible that the Strickert mentioned here is related to the Weggun Strickerts.
The first document is from the Marriage records of Oct 18, 1816. At the bottom Joachim Woderich is listed as marrying Johanne Marie Strickert, 21 years old, daughter of "__________ Strickert" of Rehberg.
For the following year, 1817, entry # 9 for baptisms lists Friedrich Theodore, the sone of Joachim Woderich and Johanna Marie born Strickert, born Sept. 27 and baptized Oct 2. The cross likely means that the child died.
