Bertha I. Marcum Brown
daughter of Sadie Elizabeth Strickert Marcum, daughter of Johann Carl Strickert, son of Friedrich Wilhelm Strickert (and Wilhelmina Giermann), son of Johan and Christina Strickert.

Sprague, Washington: Bertha I. Brown died on Dec. 13, 2002.

Graveside service for Bertha I. Brown, 66, of Sprague, is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec 21, at Maccabee Cemetery in Sprague with Pastor Steve Gutzman officiating. A potluck reception at the Sprague Community Center will follow.

Mrs. Brown died Dec 13 in Spokane. Born Oct 18, 1936, to Roy and Sadie (Strickert) Marcum in Almira, she was a 1955 Almira High School graduate. She married Gene L. Brown on June 19 of that year. They moved to the family ranch in the Fishtrap-Sprague area, where they farmed and raised angus cattle together for 45 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, and by a brother, Kenneth, and a sister, Thelma.
 
She leaves a son, Larry (and Lori) Brown and their children, Mitchell, Benjamin, and Taylor, all of Sprague; siblings, Joe (and Dorla) Marcum of the Tri-Cities, George (and Ann) Marcum of Kettle Falls, Charlotte (and Roy) Bauman of Omak, Barbara (and Marty) Bauman of Davenport, Clara (and Harvey) Coffman of Wilbur, Harold Marcum (residence unknown), and Howard Marcum of Spokane; sisters-in-law, Jess Marcum of New Zealand and Margie Brown of Sprague; brother-in-law, Don Marshall of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cheney Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
