Christian Strickert (1843-1915)

STRICKERT.-On Nov. 22, in Milverton, one of the most highly respected
residents, of Perth, died on Monday, in the person of Mr. Christian Strickert, at the ripe old age of 73 years, seven months and 26 days. He leaves a widow to mourn the loss of a beloved husband. The deceased was the father of eleven children-William, Fred, August, Henry, Mrs. William Pehlke, Mrs. John Swint of Ellice; Mrs. John Pehlke of Norgate, Manitoba; Mrs. William Jordan of Ellice; Mrs. Dharles (sic) Hoffman of Saginaw, Michigan, and two are gone before; also one brother in Scott City, Kansas, and 35 grandchildren, and one great grandchild, to mourn his loss.

Mr. Strickert was a native of Germany, but came to Canada with his parents when 11 years of age and settled in the county of Perth. In 1870 he married Miss Pauline Krugel and they resided on con. 10, Logan, for 23 years and then moved to Elma con. 16th and resided there for nine years. From there they moved to Milverton and lived and retired for the last 13 years.
The deceased had not been in good health for the last year, but was confined to his bed for sir weeks only. The funeral left his late home on Thursday at 1:30 to Greenwood cemetery, Milverton, and many beautiful flowers testified to the deep respect in which he was held in the
community.
