Ellender Rose Huffman Strickert
wife of James Russell Strickert son of Oscar William Strickert, son of Friedrich Wilhelm Strickert, son of Johan and Christina Strickert.

SCOTT CITY - Ellender R. Strickert, 78, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

She was born July 12, 1924, in Pawnee County, the daughter of Milo R. and Gertrude Mae Rainey Huffman. She graduated from Scott Community High School in 1943.

A retired school bus driver and a homemaker, Mrs. Strickert had been a lifetime resident of Scott City. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, was a Lutheran Ladies aide, and belonged to Willing Workers EHU and Scott County Hospital Auxiliary.

On April 24, 1949, she married J.R. Strickert at Scott City. He died June 10, 1996, at Scott City. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, George and Lee Huffman.

Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Strickert of Denver, and Ronald L. Strickert of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Loleta M. Strickert of Salina; three brothers, James B. Huffman of Phoenix, Darrell Huffman of Nickerson, and Ronald Huffman of Pleasonton; two sisters, Vada Mae Timken of Orange, Calif., and Nadine Henson of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Robert Roberts and Marvin Zorn officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Scott County Hospital Auxiliary or the Lutheran Hour, both in care of the funeral home.
