Flora Bockelman Strickert Ehmke
wife of Edgar Strickert, son of Fredrich Strickert, son of Johann and Christina Strickert.

Dighton, KS --Flora E Ehmke, 104, died May 11, 2005, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

She was born June 8, 1900, at Flora, MO, the daughter of Heinrich J. and Margareta Wesch Bockelman.  She attended parochial school in Flora, Missouri.  A resident of Lane County, formerly of Scott City and Missouri, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City, and the Lutheran Women's Aide Association.

On Dec. 21, 1919, she married Edgar Karl Strickert at Alma, Missouri, and they lived in Scott City, Kansas.  He died Nov. 18, 1927.  Flora returned to Missouri until her second marriage when she moved to Lane County, Kansas.  On July 30, 1931, she married August Ehmke at Alma, Missouri.  He died August 7, 1965.

Flora was a homemaker.  She enjoyed making quilts and afghans.  She made chicken and homemade noodles for every family dinner, and made her family members loaves of bread when they visited.

Survivors include two daughters: Margaret Stoppel, Scott City, and Velma Yost, Dighton; 8 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 16 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Albert, a daughter Hilda Thomason; five brothers, Fred, Henry, August, Louis, and John Bockelman; a sister Anna Pape; and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City, with the Rev. William Prochnow presiding.  Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. , Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton.  Grave Side Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
