Dubpernell.  His sponsors were Christian Rock and his wife Anna nee Neumann.  With his parents he came to the United States in April 1893 and settled near Scott City, Kansas.  He was confirmed on April 22, 1900 in Scott City by Pastor A.R. Roglitz.  He was educated in the public schools of Kansas, also completing business courses.  He studied at Concordia College and Concordia Seminary in Springfield, Illinois from 1910 to 1915, graduating in June of the latter year.

He was then called to St. Peter's Ev. Luth. Church near Shady Bend, Kansas, where he was ordained and installed on Aug. 15, 1915 by the Rev. J.H.F. Hoyer of Lincoln, Kansas.  He served this congregation until June 1926, and in addition served a mission station at Hunter, Kansas, which he organized as Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hunter, Kansas in the spring of 1925.  A year later a church was purchased and dedicated there.

He accepted the call to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church at Tilsit, near Jackson, Missouri.  On June 27, 1926, he was installed by the Rev. Victor Brugge of Gordonville, Missouri, and continued there through 1947. [ He retired in 1954 and moved to Jackson].

He was united in holy wedlock June 22, 1915 with Miss Minna Laura Rook of Bad Axe, Michigan.  The union was blessed with seven children all of whom are living in 1947:  The Rev. Walter F.
