Welcome This webpage is dedicated to the sharing and distributing of Strickert Family History Information to all interested parties. The focus will be on the descendants of Johann and Christine Strickert who immigrated from Weggun, Germany in 1856 to Perth, Ontario, Canada, and then after Christina's death to Scott City, Kansas.
[See "Memories of Johann Strickert: "Strickert Canada Home" page] http://strickertfamily.com/ Memories_Johann_Christina.html
In 1856, Johann Friedrich Strickert (born Nov. 1, 1806) began a journey that took him from Weggun, Brandenburg, Prussia to Perth County, Ontario, Canada and eventually to Scott City, Kansas where he died August 11, 1895. Traveling with him were his wife Christine (born Feuerhak), originally from Wichmannsdorf, Germany, and five sons: Carl (age 22) , Johann (20) , Friedrich (17) , Wilhelm (15) , and Christian (12) . A married daughter, Christine Wilhelmina Hoppenrath, stayed behind in Germany for a decade before immigrating to Chicago. Leaving behind economic hardships and overcrowded conditions in Germany, the family found that America was indeed the land of opportunity.
A rough estimate would suggest that there are several thousand offspring living in the USA today. We will also include a section "other Strickerts." I would invite all Strickerts to share their family history information. Hopefully, this will be a project always growing and expanding. Come back and visit us often. |

Because of information available to me, I will likely provide more material about my particular branch of the Strickert family. You can help me provide balance by sharing material--including photos-- about your branches. So please contact me about your branches of the Strickert Family Tree. Likewise please offer suggestions and also corrections when you see an error. Please note that down the line I may provide several pages that are password protected--there may be some data (current addresses etc.) to be shared only within the family.
There are several other "Strickerts" who have already done excellent work in compiling family history data. I am indebted to them.

A commercial:
Several years ago I wrote a family history on Mary Strickert, my mother's family, in the form of a novel: The Lorelei (Publish America: 2002), available on Amazon.com.
I learned that any printed history, when published is already out of date. The format of a web page will make possible an always expanding history. |
