Husband of Velma Elizabeth Strickert, daughter of Edgar Carl Strickert, son of Friedrich Wilhelm Strickert, son of Johan and Christina Strickert.

DIGHTON - Funeral for Keith Paul Yost, 80, of Dighton, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Dighton, with the Rev. David Randall officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 190.

Mr. Yost died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.

He was born Jan. 19, 1923, at Garden City, the son of Paul Henry and Esther Viola Haller Yost. He grew up in Lane County and graduated in 1940 from Dighton High School. He attended Kansas State University for two years before entering the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the Navy Air Corp and was 100 stationed in various places including the Philippine islands. After his discharge from the service, he returned to Lane County and was a lifelong farmer-stockman.

On Sept. 21, 1947, he married Velma E. Strickert at Scott City. For the past 25 years he and his wife had spent part of the year in Texas, the last 13 years at Pharr.

Mr. Yost was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 190, both at Dighton, and belonged to the Elks Lodge of McAllen, Eagles Lodge of Garden City and Moose Lodge of Dodge City. He enjoyed dancing, rock collecting and playing cards.
 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gayle Woodward of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Marilyn Yost of Denver; two sons, Roger Yost of Dighton, and Arlen Yost of Parkersburg, Iowa; two sisters, Betty Hineman of Dighton, and Harriette Rhine of Manhattan; 11 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Society of America, all in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton.
