Landon "Lanyy" Michael Strickert, 40, of Anacortes, died as a result of a head on collision with a logging truck that crossed the divider on Highway 3, south of the Hood Canal Bridge on Thursday, August 4, 2005.  His girlfriend, Lena Ing of Bremerton, survived the accident with minor injuries.

Lanny was born July 24, 1965 in Anacortes, the son of George E. Strickert and Kathy P. (Ames) Wiggins.  He grew up in Anacortes and graduated from Anacortes High School in 1983.

Lanny attended Bellingham Vocational Technical Institute, completing an Industrial Electricians course.  He worked as an electrician for various contractors and at T-Bailey in Anacortes.  Most recently, Lanny worked for Trident Seafoods in Naknek, Alaska.

Lanny was a devoted father to his daughter, Jazmin, and was very supportive of her sport activities.  They skied together and had great fun as he taught her how to drive.  Camping with his sister, Rhonda Jenson and her family, was a favorite activity that he and Jazmin loved to do.

Lanny enjoyed hunting and fishing with his cousin, Aaron Strickert and fishing and crabbing with his longtime friend, Joe Lindholm.  There were lots of barbecues and badmitton games that he shared with his brother, Scott Strickert and many of his friends.  Lanny had a ready smile for all he met and will be missed by all who knew him.  He had a good heart and lived life to the fullest.

Lanny was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard "Dick" Wiggins, in 2001.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kathy Wiggins and Dick Carrol. of Anacortes; father, George Strickert, of Anacortes; daughter, Jazmin Rene Strickert of Anacortes; brother, Scott Ryan Strickert. of Mount Vernon, sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda Sue and Thomas Jenson of Mount Vernon, and two nieces, Chelsey and Jessica Jenson, both of Mount Vernon.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2005 at his mother's home in Anacortes.
