
Leona Mae Macy Numrich daughter of Louise Justine Mahler, daughter of Augustina Charlotte Strickert, daughter of Karl Friedrich, son of Johann and Christina Strickert.
Scott City -- Leona M. Numrich, 89, died Dec. 18, 2005, at the Park Lane Nursing Home, Scott City. She was born Aug. 17, 1916 at the Mach Ranch in Scott County to Owen Bevan and Louise Mahler Macy.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, Mrs. Numrich was a homemaker, a lab technician and the third generation involved with the family farm. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Scott City, University of Kansas Alumni Association, Scott County Garden Club, American Association of University Women, Scott County Historical Society, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a board member of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Scott County Health Care Foundation, received the Bankers Soil Conversation Award in 1990 and was an Outstanding AAUW Member.
On April 25, 1942, she married Paul W. Numrich in Kansas City, KS. He died Dec. 28, 2003 in Scott City. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a son, Skip Numrich, and a daughter, Louise Berning, both of Scott City; eight grandchildren; one half brother, Richard Macy of Muncie, Ind.; two half sisters, Frances Rowland of Tulsa, OK, and Mary Reiff of Greeley, CO; four great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City, officiated by the Rev. Warren Prochnow. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Visitation hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.
