Rev. Paul George Strickert

[son of Henry John Strickert, son of Friedrich Wilhelm Strickert, son of Johann and Christina Strickert]

Rev. Paul G. Strickert was born in Beverly, Kansas on May 28, 1918, the second of seven children of Rev. Henry John and Minna Laura (Rook) Strickert. He graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1942.
 


Pastor Strickert married Virginia Lee Owens in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 7, 1943, Just one month before his ordination on March 7, 1943.


 
His first placement was at St. Paul, Denton, Texas. He then was called to Grace in Austin. He went on to serve Bethlehem in Warrensburg, Missouri, before returning to Texas to Trinity in Alice. He was called to Faith, Grand Prairie in 1955 and served there until 1971 when he was called to Fountain of Life in Sun City, Arizona.

He and Virginia returned to Texas in 1976 when he was called to Our Savior in Rockwall where he served until his retirement in 1983, Pastor Strickert spent his retirement years filling various pastoral vacancies. He preached in 12 states and 36 metroplex area congregations.

Pastor Strickert served in District capacities, as editor of the Lone Star Educational Observer and the Texas District Convention Daily, on the District Board of Public Relations, as Circuit Counselor, and as Contact Pastor for the LCMS Armed Forces Commission. Pastor Strickert’s wife, Virginia, preceded him in death on May 27 of this year.



He is survived by his son, Donald Strickert, and his daughter, Nancy Marioles. He is also survived by his daughter-in law- Jerry, three grandchildren, and four great-grandsons.

Rev. Paul Strickert


The Rev. Paul Strickert, 87, of Richardson, Texas, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, in Richardson.

He was born May 28, 1918, in Beverly, Kan., son of Henry John C. and Minna Laura Rook Strickert.

Survivors include a son, Donald Strickert of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Nancy Marioles of San Antonio, Texas; four brothers, Walt Strickert of St. Louis, Roland Strickert of Nashville, Tenn., Arnold Strickert of Jackson, Robert Strickert of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Betty Ruehardanz of Chicago; three grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. 

A  memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas. Restland Funeral Home in Dallas is in charge of arrangements.
