Philip Ernest Strickert
son of Herman Friedrich Charles Strickert, son of Friedrich Wilhelm Strickert, son of Johann and Christina Strickert.

Philip E. Strickert, 90, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.


He was born April 5, 1915, in Scott County, to Herman F. and Annie Pelk Strickert. A Garden City resident since 1959, moving from Friend, Mr. Strickert was a retired farmer and seed salesman for Horizon Seeds. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Eagles Lodge, both in Garden City. On Aug. 1, 1941, he married Myra Roemer in Ulysses.

She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Delbert Strickert of Eufaula, Okla., and William Strickert of Yuma, Colo.; three daughters, Phyllis Sage of West Richland, Wash., Linda Orrick of Olathe, and Annette Strickert of Aurora, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dana Marie Orrick; five brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral was to be 2 p.m. today at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Bill Nowlan officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
