Letter from Siegfried Strickertof Ferdinandshorst, (East) Germany to Melvin Bockelmann (translated) dated 30 Oct. 1980:"The name Strickert showed up in the year 1620 in Kreis Preuslau Land, that is where it is mentioned for the first time. The name Strickert originated this way: there had been a "Wilddieb" (this is someone who catches wild animals in the forest with ropes) with "Strickert" (Stricken are ropes)."
