Editorial Notes:

1. The last recorded event for the Johann Strickert family in Weggun was the Confirmation of Wilhelm Strickert in April, 1856. Johann's exit papers were filed on March 7, 1856. It is likely that they left Weggun some time in April.

2. Johann and Christine Strickert emigrated with five sons: Carl (22), Johann (20), Fredrich (17), Wilhelm (15), and Christian (12). Their one daughter Wilhelmine Hoppenrath settled in Hardenbeck and did not emigrate until 1864.

3. Christine Sophie Strickert (died in 1858), is likely Johann's mother.

4. Dorothee Strickert (who married Johann Schulz) is likely Johann's sister. 5. Christine Strickert (who married Johann Gudenschwager) is likely Johann's sister. 6. Christine Strickert (who married Karl Nehls) may be a niece of Johann.
